Hanapepe Swinging Bridge, Kids Surfing!

Hanapepe was a thriving town many years ago. It was a party town where LOTS of opium was scored. There were many many bars and many parties. Today is is a ghost town. They are trying to revive it. There are a handful of shops and stores, but they seemed deserted. I wanted to find the swinging bridge and Keith and I did. However, we did not bring our camera. We walked across the levee in the back of the picture to get to the bridge. Then when we crossed the bridge we saw that it was literally two steps from a parking lot. So we went back on our way out of town to take pictures.

These "surfing" picutures were taken at a store called the Trading Post. They sold lots of jewelry and souvenirs. The kids were having fun while grandparents shopped!
